Voters are heading to the polls for the local elections across Scotland, England and Wales today.
Polling stations are open from 7.00am to 10.00pm, with the count due to begin on Friday morning at around 9.00am.
The results are expected to be announced around midday Friday.
There are a total of 1,227 seats available in Scotland. More than 2,500 candidates put themselves forward to fill the role across the country’s 32 local authorities.
The election uses the Single Transferable Vote system, with voters asked to rank the candidates from the political parties in order of preference.
People ages 16 and over are eligible to vote in all Council and Parliamentary elections in Scotland.
Politicians and the public alike are taking to social media to urge people to take a minute out of their day to cast their vote.
